MATH
200-01-02: Course Goals
Instructor: Misha
Shvartsman
General
Goals:
1. Gaining
factual knowledge (terminology and methods)
2.
Learning to apply course material (problem solving)
Subject
Goals:
1. To
learn and to understand how geometry of three-dimensional
space can be described using vectors and vector functions
2. To develop skills in evaluating limits, derivatives,
extremal properties and integrals for the functions of several
variables;
that portion will extend ideas you learned in the calculus of
one variable (covered in MATH 113 and MATH 114) to a
multivariable setting.
3. To learn and to understand concepts and methods of vector
analysis
4. To
learn and to understand concepts of line and surface
integrals in the context of vector analysis
5. To learn and to
understand concepts of
curl and divergence
6.
To learn and to understand Green's,
Divergence and Stokes' Theorems
